MADISON, Wis. – In front of 1,271 fans, the Wisconsin softball team got its redemption after holding Nebraska scoreless in the last five innings on Saturday at the annual "Get to Goodman" game, defeating the Huskers 5-4.
Trailing 4-3, Wisconsin (37-11 overall, 14-8 B1G) showed up big in the bottom of the sixth with freshman Ally Miklesh started things off with a single to right field. Junior Kayla Konwent followed suit with a single to third base. A Nebraska throwing error on the play advanced her to second and scored. Konwent would also score after a Taylor Johnson triple to take the lead from Nebraska (21-29, 9-13).
The Badgers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning with the help from three straight walks and a sacrifice hit from Jordan Little that allowed Konwent to score.
After giving up three runs in the top of the second, both teams went scoreless until Lauren Foster hit a double to send pinch runner Tyra Turner home. Foster proceeded to steal third base before scoring after Miklesh singled to right field.
Sophomore Haley Hestekin pitched all seven innings in Saturday's win to improve her record to 16-4 on the season.
Batting clean-up: Four notes to know
- Miklesh recorded a team-best two hits in today's game.
- Hestekin threw her eighth complete game of the season.
- Johnson is leading the Badgers on the weekend with three RBI and a .600 batting average.
- This year's seniors Melanie Cross, Stephanie Lombardo, Angela Morrow, Gabby Scherle and Kelly Welsh, and manager McKenna Heim, will be honored tomorrow during the last home game of the year.

The Badgers conclude the regular season tomorrow at Goodman Diamond when they take on the Huskers at 10 a.m.
