COLUMBUS, Ohio – Trailing 3-0 in the second period, Wisconsin men's hockey rallied for a 3-3 tie at No. 10 Ohio State, winning an extra point in the Big Ten standings on a Ty-Pelton Byce three-on-three overtime tally Saturday night.
With the result, the seventh-seeded Badgers will return to Value City Arena in Columbus to open the best-of-three Big Ten tournament's first round at second-seeded Ohio State next Friday.
 Â
In search for their first Big Ten sweep of the season, Wisconsin trailed 3-2 going into the third period. The Badgers climbed their way back from a 3-0 deficit early in the second period, but still needed a late game surge to leave Columbus with continued momentum.
Â
Junior
Tyler Inamoto tied up the game for Wisconsin with a one-time blast off a
Cole Caufield feed for his second goal of the season. Ohio State held off the Badger offense in the first overtime to seal the tie, but Pelton-Byce scored shorty in second overtime to give Wisconsin the extra point.
Â
After falling behind 3-0, the Badger offense finally found their rhythm in the second period to make it a one-goal game. Freshman
Dylan Holloway netted the first goal for Wisconsin and senior
Max Zimmer followed it up with one of his own to continue his late season hot streak.
Â
Senior goalie
Jack Berry got the start for Wisconsin and saved 22 shots in the tie, going perfect in the third period and overtime.

Notes to know:
- Cole Caufield's assist gave him 24 points in Big Ten play to give him the conference scoring title. That made this year the second time in school history a Badger won conference scoring title. Mark Johnson and Mike Eaves shared the WCHA scoring title during the 1977-78 season with 70 points each.
- Max Zimmer has seven goals over the last eight games. He had only 11 career goals coming into this season
- To go along with his overtime goal, Pelton-Byce also assisted on both Holloway's and Inamoto's goal
Straight from the rink:
Head Coach Tony Granato
"That was the purpose of these last few weeks, to get to where we are playing our best and give ourselves a chance. We know it's not easy. It's not the path that we chose at the start of the year, but we've found a way the last few weeks. The last few weeks the results have started to come with what we've done. You look down the roster and you could say about any guy, 'He contributed to the success we've had the past few weeks.'"

Up Next: The Badgers will travel back to Columbus next weekend to compete in the first round of the Big Ten tournament. Each game of the best-of-three series, starting Friday, will begin at 6 p.m. CT.Â
