Five Things to Know Before UW Takes on Northwestern, Indiana

Wisconsin looks to bounce back after suffering their first conference loss Friday with two matchups this week

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men's soccer hosts Northwestern Tuesday and heads to Indiana for a game against the Hoosiers Sunday afternoon. Here are five things to know going into those contests for UW.

Last Time Out – The Badgers 1-0 loss to Michigan on Friday is their first setback since Sept. 5. In the matchup against the Wolverines, Wisconsin held UM to only one shot on goal and out shot them 10-7.

Top Defense – With eight team clean sheets, UW is tied for third in the NCAA in shutout percentage at .615. The program is also holding onto a strong .433 goals against average which ranks fourth nationally.

Key Plays for Saevarsson – Aron Eli Saevarsson is second in the conference with five assists. Despite not scoring a goal at this point in the season, the Iceland native has helped the team by contributing to set pieces and getting the ball to another Badger to find the back of the net.

Winning Moments – Senior Andrew Akindele is playing a strong role in the UW attack as he has netted two game-winning goals for Wisconsin, which is good for third in the Big Ten conference in that stat.

History versus Northwestern, Indiana – Wisconsin leads the series over the Wildcats 30-12-7 with the programs last victory coming by way of a golden goal in 2018. The Badgers trail the series against the Hoosiers 5-40-9 with four of those victories in Madison.

UW's game with Northwestern will be televised on Big Ten Network Tuesday night and the first 500 fans will receive a free Chris Mueller replica jersey t-shirt. Admission is free and kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The Badgers will be in Bloomington on Sunday and the game is scheduled to begin at noon.
