Five Things to Know: Badgers head to Rutgers

UW hits the road to face Scarlet Knights
MADISON, Wis. – After taking three of four last weekend at home against Iowa, the Wisconsin softball team heads to New Jersey to face Rutgers this weekend. First pitch on Friday is set for 2 p.m. CT, followed by Saturday's doubleheader beginning at noon and Sunday's series finale set for a 10 a.m. start.

1. LAST TIME OUT: UW earned its second series win of the year last weekend thanks to a trio of wins over Iowa. The Badgers took both games on Friday, earning 7-1 and 1-0 wins, before capping off the series with a 3-2 walk-off victory on Sunday. Fiona Girardot hit a team-best .600 during the series and also had a team-high four runs and four RBI.
2. STELLAR IN THE CIRCLE: The Badgers held Iowa to only six runs during the weekend, a four-game series low for the Hawkeyes. Haley Hestekin earned a shutout in the circle in the Badgers in their 1-0 win on Friday, while Maddie Schwartz had a 1.75 ERA and 15 strikeouts in three appearances over the weekend.
3. BANNER DAY FOR BANNON: Freshman Peyton Bannon had an unforgettable day on Sunday, as she hit a walk-off double to lead UW to a 3-2 triumph. The Spring Grove, Illinois, native leads UW this year with a .317 average and her 13 runs, 19 hits and eight doubles all lead the team.
4. AGAINST RUTGERS: The Badgers lead the all-time series against Rutgers, 5-3, and this weekend's series in Piscataway marks the first time the two teams have met since March 25, 2018. This marks only the second trip the Badgers have ever made to Piscataway as UW won two out of three against Rutgers during the 2015 campaign.
5. UP NEXT: Wisconsin will wrap up its eight-game road swing with a trip to Nebraska next weekend. First pitch in Lincoln on Friday, April 23 is set for 5:30 p.m. The Badgers and Cornhuskers will play a doubleheader on Saturday, April 24 starting at noon before concluding the series on Sunday, April 25 with a noon contest.
