April 02, 2021 | Men's Tennis
Wisconsin faces No. 12 Illinois and No. 47 Northwestern
MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin men's tennis team will hit the road one last time during the regular season to compete in a pair of rematches against No. 12-ranked Illinois and No. 47 Northwestern on Sunday.
The Badgers (4-8, 4-7 Big Ten) compete against the Illini at 3 p.m. Friday and then travel to Evanston to take on the Wildcats at noon Sunday.
1. Badger Review: The Badgers are coming off a dominant 4-0 win over Purdue last Sunday. Junior Jared Pratt was the player to watch last weekend, as he won both of his singles and both doubles matches — alongside partner Robin Parts — in UW's duals with Indiana and Purdue. As a result, Pratt was named ITA National Player of the Week in recognition of the sizable increase in his Universal Tennis Rankings score that came with his unbeaten weekend.
2. Scouting Illinois: The 12th-ranked Illini are currently 9-1 in the Big Ten after sweeping both of their matches against No. 25 Michigan and Michigan State last weekend. Sophomore Siphosothando Monsti was also awarded Big Ten Player of the Week for the second time on Tuesday. The Illini have gotten the better of the Badgers in both of the teams' matches this season, including a non-conference dual in Champaign on Feb. 9.
3. Scouting Northwestern: The Wildcats are currently 8-5 in the Big Ten after splitting their matches over the weekend. The 'Cats duo of Simon Bratholm and Nick Brookes are currently on a four-match win streak and are listed seventh in the ITA doubles rankings.
