UW to play four-game series against Hawkeyes at Goodman Diamond

Update: Due to anticipated rain in the forecast, UW will now play a double header against Iowa on Friday at 3 p.m. before playing single games against Iowa on Saturday and Sunday at noon.

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin softball team wraps up its eight-game homestand with a series against Iowa at Goodman Diamond. First pitch on Friday is at 3 p.m., Saturday's doubleheader starts at noon and Sunday's series finale also has a noon start.

There are no tickets for sale or general fans permitted at the Goodman Softball Complex at this time, but fans can watch the Badgers in action live on Big Ten Network+, listen to the games on WSUM and follow the action on Twitter (@BadgerSoftball).

1. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers are coming off their first home series of the year against Illinois where UW dropped three of its four contests against the Fighting Illini. Ally Miklesh and Peyton Bannon each had five hits during the series.

2. MASTERFUL MAGNANIMO: In her first start of the year for the Badgers, Tessa Magnanimo didn't disappoint as she went the distance for the Badgers in Saturday's 2-1 win. The sophomore pitched seven innings, gave up only one unearned run and struck out two Illini batters. Magnanimo also earned the start in Sunday's 3-0 setback to Illinois, pitching three innings while giving up only one run before giving way to Maddie Schwartz.

3. WALK IT OUT: The Badgers currently rank fourth in the Big Ten Conference in walks this year with 52. A pair of Badgers rank in the top-10 in the conference as Fiona Girardot's 11 walks are tied for the sixth-most in the conference while Morgan Kummer's nine walks are tied for the 10th most.

4. AGAINST IOWA: The Badgers trail the all-time series with Iowa 39-23, but swept the Hawkeyes in their last matchup April 5-7, 2019, in Madison. Haley Hestekin earned a win in the circle for the Badgers while Ally Miklesh and Lauren Foster combined to score five runs for the Badgers.

5. UP NEXT: The Badgers hit the road for two series, as UW will head to New Jersey to take on Rutgers on April 16-18, before traveling to Nebraska to take on the Cornhuskers on April 23-25.
