Badgers will compete in 13th consecutive national championships
MADISON, Wis. – The 15th-ranked Wisconsin women's rowing team looks to continue getting faster this week and show that off at the 2021 NCAA Rowing Championships that run Friday through Sunday, May 28-30, at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida.
Here are four things to know about the Badgers and the event.
LUCKY 13: This year marks the women's rowing program's 13th consecutive NCAA championships appearance, the longest current streak in the Wisconsin athletic department.
UW used a strong performance at the 2021 Big Ten Championships to make its case and earn its at-large bid to the 22-team field. It is one of four Big Ten teams to make the championships.
Under head coach Bebe Bryans, UW owns 15 NCAA appearances in 16 seasons. This year marks UW's 17th NCAA appearance since the event began in 1997.
NCAA HISTORY: UW's Big Ten championship season of 2010 also marked its high-water mark for the NCAA championships when the team took seventh place.
The Badgers own seven top-10 NCAA team finishes, while their varsity eight boasts three top-10s, led by ninth-place results in 2011 and 2016.
The 2009 varsity four's second-place result is the highest individual boat result, while the 2010 four and the 2006 second varsity eight each placed third in their respective events to earn podium finishes.
SOWING THE SEEDS: The Badgers earned the No. 15 seed in the varsity eight, the No. 14 seed in the second varsity eight and the No. 17 seed in the varsity four.
