MADISON, Wis. -- The No. 14 Wisconsin men's cross country team heads to Louisville, Kentucky, to compete in the Live in Lou Classic this Saturday. The men's 8K race begins at 8:30 a.m. CT at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.
1. A PERFECT START: The Badgers kicked off their 2021 season in a dominant fashion by earning a perfect score at the Badger Classic on Sept. 10. Olin Hacker, Charlie Wheeler, David Vannucchi, Seth Hirsch, and Jackson Sharp solidified the perfect score for Wisconsin by earning first through fifth place finishes, respectively. Hacker, Wheeler, Vannucchi and Hirsch finished with near identical times.
2. MAINTAINING A TOP RANKING: Since the team's perfect weekend, Wisconsin has maintained its 14th-place ranking in the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll and third-place standing in the Great Lakes Regional rankings.Â
3. LIVE IN LOU LAYOUT: This weekend's meet features three races apiece for men and women with multiple schools across a variety of levels, including NCAA I, NCAA II, NCAA III and NAIA. Wisconsin is the top-ranked DI school but will be challenged by some top-ranked DII schools, including Grand Valley State (2nd), Queens, N.C. (11th), Lewis (20th) and Mississippi College (28th).
