MADISON, Wis. – The No.16 Wisconsin women's swimming and diving team came out victorious in their home opener against No.25 Minnesota, defeating the Golden Gophers, 172-128, on Friday night. The Badgers, who won 11 events against Minnesota, improve to 3-0 on the season.

Bacon continues to dominate
Junior
Phoebe Bacon continued her winning ways, claiming two individual events and being a part of a winning relay. She won the 100-yard backstroke in 54.35 seconds and the 200 back in 1:55.61. She was also a member of the winning 200-medley relay, teaming with
Hazal Ozkan,
Mallory Jump, and
Abby Wanezek to touch in 1:40.63.Â
Bacon also finished second in the 200 individual medley in 2:00.21. Sophomore
Katie McClintock took third in 2:03.35 while junior
Callahan Dunn placed fourth in 2:03.53.

Carlson and Moore win two events

Elizabeth Moore both won two individual events.
Carlson hit the wall first in the 100 free in 50.56 and won the 200 free in 1:48.08. She was also part of the winning 400-freestyle relay, teaming with
Blair Stoneburg,
Mackenzie McConagha, and Wanezek to touch in 3:21.66.
Stoneburg also won the 500 free in 4:49.53, finished second in the 200 free in 1:48.46 and third in the 100 free in 50.87. Wanezek was the runner-up on the 50 free in 23.34 while McConagha was the top UW finisher in the 200 fly, finishing second in 1:58.69.
Moore hit the wall first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.30 and won the 200 breast in 2:13.79.
Behind Moore, Wisconsin swept the top-three places in the 200 breast as Ozkan finished second in 2:16.73 and Dunn took third in 2:17.67. Ozkan also took third in the 100 breast in 1:02.71 while McClintock finished fourth in 1:03.90.
