Badgers open season with three duals in Jacksonville, Fla.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — No. 9 Wisconsin opens the 2022-23 wrestling season at the first-ever Battle in the River City in Jacksonville. The hometown of Badgers head coach Chris Bono, the event will see Wisconsin wrestle three duals against Chattanooga, Buffalo and No. 14 Iowa State on Saturday.
The event also includes Little Rock and Campbell in the six-team round-robin.
Here are five things to know:
1. HOW TO WATCH: All matches will be streamed live on Rokfin (Pay-Per-View) at https://rokfin.com/ppv/19/Battle-in-the-River-City. Live scoring updates will be shared on Twitter at https://twitter.com/BadgerWrestling.
2. SCHEDULE: The event will feature two mats to start and the schedule will be:
Dual No. 1 - 9 a.m. CT/10 a.m. ET
Mat 1: No. 9 Wisconsin vs. Chattanooga
Mat 2: Little Rock vs. Campbell
Dual No. 2 - 11 a.m. CT/12 p.m. ET
Mat 1: No. 9 Wisconsin vs. Buffalo
Mat 2: No. 14 Iowa State vs. Little Rock

3. LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin last wrestled at the 2022 NCAA Championships in Detroit. The Badgers had nine qualifiers and saw three wrestlers earn All-American honors — Eric Barnett (7th, 125 pounds), Austin Gomez (4th, 149 pounds) and Dean Hamiti (6th, 165 pounds). Read the full recap here.
