PALM COAST, Fla.— Wisconsin golf finished in sixth place at the Big Ten Match Play to open up the Spring 2022 season.
The Badgers split their matches, winning the first and falling in the second on both days.
The team defeated Maryland 4-1-0 in the Friday morning match.Â
Griffin Barela was first to finish his match at 7&6, followed by wins from
Robbie Morway,
Cameron Huss and
Daniel Aas.
Wisconsin then fell 4-1-0 to Michigan State in the Friday afternoon match. Barela was the only Badger to win his match in the second round, finishing 5&4.
Jacob Beckman subbed in for Aas.
The Badgers then went on to defeat Rutgers 4-1-0 in the Saturday morning match. Huss, Barela, Morway and Aas all won their matches. Huss led the team finishing 5&4 in the third round.
For the final round, Beckman secured a win at 2&1 but the Badgers fell 3-1-1 to Northwestern.
Barela won the most matches over the tournament with three.
Up next, the Badgers will head to Puerto Rico on February 13-15 for the Puerto Rico Classic hosted by Purdue.
