Badgers drop double header at Illinois

UW suffers pare of setbacks to Fighting Illini
URBANA, Ill. – For only the second time this year, the Wisconsin softball team dropped back-to-back games, falling twice to Illinois on Saturday at Eichelberger Field.
UW (20-10, 5-3 B1G) dropped the first game of the doubleheader 4-1 before falling in the night cap, 4-2, to Illinois (21-13, 5-2).
Kayla Konwent had two of the Badgers' hits on the day while Jolie Fish and Ally Miklesh hit home runs to lead the UW offense.
Game One
Illinois jumped out to a 2-0 lead against the Badgers, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the second.
UW worked its way out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the third inning as the Badgers turned a double play to keep the Illinois lead to two.
In the top of the fourth, Miklesh went yard, launching the ball over the left-centerfield fence for her second home run of the year.
However, the Fighting Illini added two more runs in the bottom of the inning to close out the scoring.
Game Two
The Badgers went down 4-0 in the third inning as Illinois hit a pair of two-run jacks.
UW scored its first run of the day in the top of the sixth inning as Eden Dempsey, who pinch ran for Lauren Foster, scored on a Kayla Konwent RBI single to make it a 4-1 game.
In the the top of the seventh, Jolie Fish hit her first home run of the season, but UW was unable to complete the comeback against the Fighting Illini.
