MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin softball trio of Kalya Konwent, Maddie Schwartz and Ally Miklesh earned National Facepitch Coaches Association Great Lakes All-Region honors, the organization announced on Thursday.
Konwent earned first-team All-Region honors, while Schwartz collected second-team honors and Miklesh was awarded third-team accolades.
A native of Salem, Wisconsin, Konwent also earned first-team All-Big Ten honors earlier this month after leading the Badgers with a .377 batting average. She also paces the Big Ten Conference with a .537Â on-base percentage and broke the school record for career home runs with her 32 career home run. She has been intentionally walked 17 times this season and her 37 total walks rank second in the Big Ten. Her .406 career batting average, .753 slugging percentage and .542 on-base percentage marks are all school-best marks.
Schwartz earned her first career all-region honor after collecting second-team All-Big Ten accolades this season. A native of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Schwartz enters the weekend with 23 wins, which ranks as the fourth-most in school history. A native of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Miklesh also earned her first career all-region honor as the senior also earned second-team All-Big Ten honors. She started 44 games this season in the outfield for the Cardinal and White and ranks second on the team in batting average with a .342 clip. Her 26 runs also rank second on the squad.
The Badgers open up NCAA tournament play on Friday with a showdown against Georgia Tech. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. CT and the game can be seen live on ESPNU.
