MADISON, Wis. – Celebrating Senior Day as well as its final meet before the Big Ten Conference championships, the Wisconsin women's track and field team hosted the Wisconsin Classic Friday. Six Badgers won nine events at the meet,
Brown, Schaefer win two events
Redshirt senior
Armoni Brown and redshirt junior
Josie Schaefer both won two events on Friday.
Brown won the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 9 1/4 inches and was also a member of the winning 4x100-meter relay. She teamed with
Taylor Gilling,
Destiny Huven and
Kiley Robbins to win the relay in 45.29 seconds. Senior
Diamond Black finished second in the long jump (17-10 1/4) and second in the triple jump (37-1 3/4).
Schaefer started her day by winning the shot put with a toss of 56-6 1/4 but saved her best for the discus where she won with a personal best of 187-9. Her discus throw keeps her second all-time at UW and ranks third in the Big Ten this season.
Winners on the track
Bianca Stubler celebrated her Senior Day by winning the 200 meters in a personal best of 23.96. Her time ranks her sixth all-time at Wisconsin. Sophomore
Ali Dorn finished second in 24.55.
Sophomore
Danielle Bellino led a 1-2 sweep in the 800 meters, crossng the line in 2:07.26 for the win. Senior
Cailyn Biegalski finished second in 2:10.84.
In the 1500 meters,
Kylie Finger competed unattached, leading the Badgers to victory, running a personal best time of 4:28.15.
Danielle Orie was the second Badger to finish, placing third in 4:33.68.
Field event athletes record top marks
Wisconsin picked up two top-10 all-time marks in the pole vaulr. Redshirt senior Tia Dorhorst cleared a personal best of 13-5 ¾ for the win, placing her at No. 6 all-time in UW program history. Freshman
Julia Moore placed second in the pole vault, jumping a personal best height of 13-3 ¾, which ranks her seventh all-time at Wisconsin.
In the hammer,
Chloe Lindeman threw a personal best of 205-7 to win the event. She continues to be ranked second all-time at Wisconsin and moves up to third in the Big Ten this season. Right behind her was
Olivia Roberts, who placed second with a personal best throw of 197-1. Roberts still holds the third best distance in the event for Wisconsin's program history.
