Four events to watch: NCAA Outdoor Championships

Badgers send four athletes to Eugene
EUGENE, Oregon --Â Four members of the women's track and field teams will compete in the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Wednesday-Saturday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. The meet airs live on ESPNU on Wednesday and Thursday, and live on ESPN2 on Friday and Saturday.
Here are four events to watch this week.
1. JOSIE AND THE SHOT PUT: Redshirt junior Josie Schaefer finished second at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships, throwing a personal best of 60 feet, 0 1/4 inches. This season, she is seeded 14th in the event, throwing 55-10 ½ at the NCAA West round.
2. HURDLING HUVEN: Junior Destiny Huven is seeded 14th in the 100-meter hurdles, heading into the national meet. Huven ran a school record of 12.96 at the NCAA West Preliminary Round on May 28. Huven will be competing in her first NCAA championship meet but qualified for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials.
3. CHASING THE STEEPLE: Graduate student Alissa Niggemann wraps up her career as a Badgers seeded 16th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:00.72. The school-record holder in the event at 9:41.12, Niggemann placed 12th in the event at the 2021 NCAA OUtdoor Championships. She is also a two-time Big Ten champion in the event, including in 2022.
4. NO STUBBING TOES FOR STUBLER: Senior Bianca Stubler enters the national meet ranked 17th in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.40. The Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, native broke a 32-year old school record in the event earlier this season, running 57.13. Stubler is looking to improve upon her 13th-place finish in the hurdles from a year ago.
