MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin softball head coach
Yvette Healy announced Wednesday that CoSIDA Academic All-American Katie Keller will join the Badgers this fall.
A three-time first-team All-MAC honoree while playing at Northern Illinois University, Keller is a catcher/infielder that was the NCAA statistical champion for doubles per game in 2019. Â
"Katie is one of the most decorated lefty hitters in the Midwest," Healy said. "Leading the country in doubles and earning NFCA honors multiple times, she'll make an immediate impact on Badger softball. Katie's commitment to academic and athletic excellence makes her the perfect fit for Wisconsin. Growing up less than two hours from Madison, earning CoSIDA Academic All-American and MAC Medal of Excellence recognition, we know Katie will thrive on the field, in the community and in the classroom at Wisconsin."
A native of Geneva, Illinois, Keller ranked sixth in the NCAA in doubles with 20 while her career-best .443 batting average was the seventh-best mark in the country. Keller led the Huskies in hits (62), runs (40), RBI (45), and stolen bases (15) and didn't commit an error in 217 opportunities during the season. She collected second-team all-region accolades by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, marking the third time in her time at NIU that she earned all-region accolades.
Keller closed out her time at NIU with a .425 batting average, a MAC-record 72 doubles and started 169 of 170 games for the Huskies. Her 116 RBI, 209 hits and .715 slugging percentage also rank in the top-five in program history. Keller was also named a first-team NFCA All-Great Lakes Region honoree as a freshman and was selected to the Schutt Sports/NFCA D-I Freshman Top 25 list.
She graduated in 2022 with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average and a degree in biological sciences. Keller earned the MAC Medal of Excellence and was a two-time Academic All-MAC selection.
