MADISON, Wis. – Thanks to a balanced attack featuring nine different goal scorers, the No. 5 Wisconsin women's hockey team dispatched Lindenwood, 10-0, on Friday night in front of a sellout crowd at LaBahn Arena.Â
Nine Badgers (3-1-0) potted the 10 goals against the Lions (0-4-0), including
Casey O'Brien,
Britta Curl,
Jesse Compher,
Lacey Eden,
Laila Edwards,
Nicole LaMantia,
Sophie Shirley,
Kirsten Simms and
Maddi Wheeler.Â
The Badgers got on the board quickly in the first period as O'Brien scored her third goal of the season 1:03 into the game.
Midway through the period, Curl scored on the power play to double the UW lead before Compher scored with 3:40 left in the frame to give UW a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes.Â
UW tacked on four in the second period as Eden scored her team-leading fifth of the year to lift UW to a 4-0 advantage.Â
Laila Edwards collected her second goal of the year on a 2-on-1 rush with O'Brien before LaMantia scored a power-play strike to give UW a 6-0 lead.
Sophie Shirley tallied her third of the weekend with 1:30 left in the second to give UW a 7-0 advantage after two periods.Â
Following her first penalty of the season, Simms bounced back by scoring her first goal at home in the third period to put UW up 8-0.
Wheeler scored her third of the weekend less than two minutes later, with Compher scoring her second of the night right after, making it three goals in three minutes for the Badgers.Â

- In her first home start for the Badgers,
Jane Gervais stopped all 11 shots she faced to earn her first career shutout.Â
- Olympian
Caroline Harvey enjoyed her best night of her young career, collecting five assists and a +4 plus/minus rating. She was one assist shy of matching the school record for most assists in a game set by Meghan Hunter during the 2000-2001 season.Â
- Eden and Wheeler both posted seven points against the Lions as each forward recorded three goals and four assists during the sweep.Â
