Here are five things to know about this weekend.

1. Ranked in the Top 25: The Badgers started the season off strong, winning their first dual meet against Notre Dame by over 125 points. According to the CSCAA week one poll, the Badgers check in at No.12 to start the season. They take on No.14 Michigan, who placed third in the Big Ten Championships last year, and Arizona, who is the second-highest team receiving votes in the national poll.

2. Historic Badger: Freshman Maddie Waggoner had an impressive college debut, winning the 1000 free against Notre Dame in 9:43.27. This time ranks fifth on the UW all-time performance list. She was closely followed by NCAA National Champion Paige Mckenna in second place, finishing in 9:44.28.

3. Carlson's B1G Accolades: Last week's Big Ten Swimmer of the Week, Abby Carlson, looks to continue her individual win streak in the 500 free, after dominating in the event against the Fighting Irish, winning with an NCAA "B" cut time of 4:46.14.  She also won the 500 free in a "B" time of 4:46.14. She was also a member of the winning 400 free relay.

4. NCAA Bound Already!: Wisconsin had three athletes earn individual NCAA "B" cut times in their home opener including Carlson, Phoebe Bacon, and Hailey Tierney. Carlson had two cuts in the 200 and 500 free while Bacon made the standard in the 200 individual medley, hitting the wall in 1:59.21. Rookie Tierney made the team's third cut in her collegiate debut in the 50 free, finishing in 22.62.

5. How to follow: Meet results from the meet will be posted live through the UWBadgers.com. The meet will also be streamed live on B1G+ ($). Follow us on Instagram and Twitter for all the inside scoop throughout the weekend @BadgerSwimDive.
