MADISON, Wis. — Dean Hamiti will return to the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Star Classic presented by Cliff Keen on Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Held at Rec Hall at Penn State in University Park, Pennsylvania, the event brings the best men's and women's college wrestlers in the country together for an early season showcase of matchups. The All-Star Classic starts at 6 p.m. CT/7 p.m. ET and will air on FloWrestling. The event will feature 10 highly-ranked men's NCAA Division I folkstyle bouts and four women's cross-divisional women's freestyle matches.

Ranked fourth in the country at 165 pounds by Intermat on Nov. 14, Hamiti will wrestle senior Izzak Olejnik of Oklahoma State. Olejnik is currently ranked sixth overall at 165 and holds a 1-0 record after opening his competitive season with a 10-2 major decision over No. 33 Noah Mulvaney of Bucknell in a dual match on Friday, Nov. 10.

Hamiti improved to 5-0 this season after winning the 2023 Michigan State Open and also being named the Big Ten's Co-Wrestler of the Week on Nov. 14. He is the reigning Big Ten Champion at 165 pounds, a two-time NCAA All-American in as many seasons and holds a 58-10 career record as he starts year three with the Badgers. Hamiti and the Badgers will wrestle No. 10 Iowa State on Sunday, Nov. 19 prior to the All-Star Classic. Hamiti is projected to wrestle second-ranked David Carr during the dual match against the Cyclones in Humboldt, Iowa.

This is Hamiti's second year of competing in the NWCA's event. As a sophomore, he wrestled Keegan O'Toole of Missouri at 165 pounds and lost a 7-1 decision. O'Toole is the top-ranked wrestler in that weight class currently.

According to the NWCA, the prestigious event began in 1967 and was a staple of the college season until 2017. After a four year hiatus, the All-Star Classic made its return in 2022 in Austin, Texas due, in large part, to the support of the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
