The first time the Wisconsin football team had two 100-yard rushing performances in the same game was Oct. 29, 1949. Robert Teague (144) and Lisle Blackbourne (109) did the honors.
The first time the Badgers had three 100-yard rushing efforts in the same outing was Nov. 8, 2008. David Gilreath (168), P.J. Hill (126) and John Clay (112) took care of business.
The effort by Gilreath represents the last time a wide receiver led UW in rushing yards in a game. It was the most by a non-running back in program history and came on only eight carries.
One of the rare instances when Wisconsin had two 100-yard receivers in the same contest was Oct. 1, 2005. Jonathan Orr (128) and Brandon Williams (113) caught four and six passes, respectively.
The common denominator here is that these milestones came vs. Indiana, which will host the Badgers in a Big Ten Conference game at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington.
The ominous kicker is that the top returning rusher and receiver for the Badgers from 2022 – junior running back Braelon Allen and senior wideout Chimere Dike – are both questionable due to injuries.
Wisconsin (5-3 overall, 3-2 in the Big Ten) can nail down its 22nd consecutive bowl berth with a victory over the Hoosiers (2-6, 0-5). It’s the longest streak in the league and third-longest among Football Bowl Subdivision schools behind Georgia (26) and Oklahoma (24).
