Lauterbach ties for second at Big Ten Championship

Badgers take fifth at conference tournament

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- After three rounds of play, Wisconsin women's golf has completed the 2023 Big Ten Championship. The Badgers finished in fifth place with a +38 (295-302-293=890).

Emily Lauterbach led Wisconsin as the Badgers' top-finisher, shooting a 69-73-71=213 to finish even par and tied for second place. This marks Lauterbach's second top-3 finish of the season, including a third place finish at the Marilynn Smith Invitational back in October.

Illinois grabbed the conference honors, shooting a 286-292-287=865 to finish 13-over, marking their first ever Big Ten Title in Women's Golf. The Fighting Illini narrowly passed state rival, No. 15 Northwestern, who completed the tournament with a 16-over par.

Sunday, April 23

Round 3

Wisconsin carded a 293 (+9) on the final day of the Big Ten Championship for their best round of the tournament.

Lauterbach shot an ever-par in the final round of the tournament. The senior led the Badgers in each round, tallying a total of 10 birdies throughout the three rounds.

Vanessa Ho followed closely behind with a one-over 72 while Alexia Siehl shot a three-over par.

Chloe Chan carded a five-over par in the final round. Carly Carter tallied a six-over 77 and Gia Feliciano rounded out the lineup with a nine-over par.

Saturday, April 22

Round 2

The Badgers shot a 302 (+18) in the second round of the Big Ten Championship, ending the day in sixth place.

Lauterbach led the Badgers once again, carding a two-over 73 with four birdies to continue her reign in the top-5.

Ho and Chan each tallied a five-over par. Carter and Siehl followed closely behind, completing the second round with a six-over par. Feliciano rounded out the lineup with an eight-over 79.

Friday, April 21

Round 1

Wisconsin started the tournament off strong, carding a 295 (+11) to end the day tied for fourth place.

Lauterbach led the pack, tying for first place after shooting a two-under par. She finished the round with two-straight birdies to push herself ahead. Siehl also cracked the top-10, carding a one-over 72 to tie for 10th. Siehl tallied a team-leading four birdies in the opening round.

Ho shot a five-over par, while Chan, Carter and Feliciano rounded out the lineup at seven-over par.
