Men's track wins nine events at Wisconsin Classic

Badgers wrap up preparations for Big Ten Championships
MADISON, Wis.- The No. 17 Wisconsin men's track and field team wrapped up its regular season with the Wisconsin Classic on Friday at the McClimon track. The Badgers won nine events and recorded 12 personal bests in their final preparation for next weekend's Big Ten championships. Wisconsin also picked up numerous performances that rank in the top-eight positions in the Big Ten.Â

Two other freshman also had impressive showings in the 3,000 meters as Micah Wilson won in 8:19.77 and Jake Bourget followed in second at 8:23.91.

Grad student Sam Coil started off his Senior Day with a victory in the hammer throw, winning with a toss of 219-4. Swarens finished second, throwing a personal best of 213-9, which ranks him 10th in the Big Ten this season. The personal records don't stop there as Cole Hooper placed third, tossing a personal best of 207-9, and Nick Tomasovic placed sixth with a personal best throw of 187-10.

Jack Meijer also competed in the 1500 meters, finishing fourth with a time of 3:50.92.

In the 200 meters, Amusan ran another personal best, winning the race in 21.53. Finishing third was Elliott Harris, who ran a time of 22.08, while freshman Jalen Williams placed fifth at 22.24.

Colin Enz won silver in the men's 400 meters, running a time of 47.30. Williams ran a personal best of 47.48 to place third while 800-meter specialist Abdullahi Hassan ran his first collegiate 400 meters, crossing in 47.96 for fourth place. Badger Elliott Harris finished fifth, running a personal best of 48.81.

Measner debuts in the steeplechase with a big win
Freshman Logan Measner had an impressive outdoor debut, winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a personal best time of 8 minutes, 45.14 seconds. His time ranks second in the Big Ten this season.Â

Stone shines in discus
Redshirt junior Andrew Stone won the discus throw with a personal best toss of 190 feet, 4 inches. He moves up third all-time at UW and third in the Big Ten this season. Redshirt freshman Jake Schaefer finished third, throwing a personal best of 175-1. Fellow Badger Jason Swarens placed fourth with a toss of 172- and decathlete Cade Amborn finished ninth with a throw of 148-5. Amborn also finished second in the javelin, throwing a personal best of 189-1.Â

Sharp wins first 800 meters
Australia native Jackson Sharp competed in his first 800-meter race, dominating the race with a win at 1:50.52.Â
Jack Meijer also competed in the 1500 meters, finishing fourth with a time of 3:50.92.

Sam Amusan finished second, running a personal best of 10.38, ranking him 10th in the Big Ten this season. Freshman Giovanni Wearing won the 110-meter hurdles at 14.11 and placed third in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.47.Â
In the 200 meters, Amusan ran another personal best, winning the race in 21.53. Finishing third was Elliott Harris, who ran a time of 22.08, while freshman Jalen Williams placed fifth at 22.24.

Next weekend, the Badgers head to Bloomington, Indiana, for the Big Ten Conference Outdoor Championships. The meet runs from May 12-14 and will be streamed live on B1G+.Â
