Badgers host home tournament at University Ridge
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin women's golf returns home to host the 2023 Badger Invitational at University Ridge Golf Course this weekend on Sunday, Sept. 17 to Tuesday, Sept. 19.Â
Fans are encouraged to come watch some of the nation's top women's collegiate golfers during the three-day tournament. This is a free event for fans.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:
1. Last Time Out: Wisconsin started the 2023-24 season with the Cougar Classic in Hanahan, South Carolina, where they placed 16th at 23-over par. Carly Carter garnered top honors for the Badgers, finishing tied for 45th at one-over par. Carter tallied a new career-low 36-hole score of 143 and a new career-low 54-hole score of 214. The junior improved her 54-hole career-low by nine strokes. Read more about the Cougar Classic here.Â
2. The Course: Home of the Badgers, University Ridge is a par-72 and will be playing at 6,248 yards for the Invitational. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1991. University Ridge is home to the annual American Family Insurance Championship tournament. The course, also known as "URidge", is consistently looked at as one of the top college golf courses in the country. Most recently, University Ridge was named the No. 2 best college golf course by GolfLink.Â
3. The Tournament: The Invitational is slated from Sunday, Sept. 17 to Tuesday, Sept. 19, with 18 holes being played on each day. Tee times on Sunday and Monday will begin at 9:00 a.m. CT off Holes 1 and 10. Wisconsin has tee times ranging from 9:00 a.m. CT to 10:12 a.m. CT on Sunday and Monday's times will be determined by seeding. Tuesday will begin at 9:00 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.Â
4. The Field: Teams competing include Wisconsin, Augusta, Colorado State, Delaware, East Tennessee, Indiana, Iowa, New Mexico State, North Florida, Rutgers, Sam Houston, South Florida UC Davis, UTSA and Yale. In the lineup for the Badgers are Carly Carter, Alexia Siehl, Kate Brody, Vanessa Ho and Chloe Chan. Yongze Cheng, Gia Feliciano, Camille Kuznik and Ava Salay will be joining the team as individuals.Â
