MADISON, Wis. – Coming off a win against Maryland, the Wisconsin men's soccer team will look to continue their unbeaten conference play in a road match against the Michigan Wolverines. The game is set for Sunday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m. CT.
Here's what you need to know before the game.
1 – No Goals for You! – The Badgers' most recent win was another tally in the team's list of shutouts for the season. The total is now six in nine games, a start that hasn't happened for the Badgers since 2007. Keeper Nate Crockford ranks second in the nation in shutouts and UW in turn ranks second in team shutouts.
2 – Mark One for Markie – Freshman Markie Hrvojevic scored the game winner last match, a 1-0 shutout against defending Big Ten-champion Maryland. It served as Hrvojevic's first career goal for the Illinois native, who has appeared in eight of the nine Badger games this season, starting three of them.
Â
Â
3 – Jack Attack – UW's leader in shots on goals, Jack Finnegan, certainly knows how to rack them up against Michigan. In last year's match with the Wolverines, Finnegan totaled a career high five shots on goal, with one of them finding the back of net in a 2-1 win.
Â
4 –Wolverine Watching – Michigan currently stands at 2-3-3 (1-0-1), with a conference win against Rutgers and a draw with Maryland. The Wolverines have played well when down this season, with half of their 12 goals being game-tying, even coming back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Rutgers, 3-2, in their last match. Senior midfielder Bryce Blevins was chosen as a Big Ten Player to Watch in the preseason and has three goals and two assists in the season so far.
5 – Strong Start – Wisconsin sits at a record of 4-2-3. Since 1991, 10 teams in program history have had just two losses in the team's first nine games, six of which have gone in to the NCAA tournament, while two more made the second round of the Big Ten tournament. The 10 teams have an average winning percentage of .685.
Extra Time – The game will be steamed on the B1G+ app as well as bigtenplus.com. Live updates can be found on the @BadgerMSoccer X page – formerly twitter, as well as @badgermsoccer on Instagram.
Kickoff on Sunday is set for 2 p.m. CT, at U-M Soccer Stadium.
