Badgers wrap up weekend in Michigan

Robbins and Willemse bring home a wins

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's track and field team continued competition at the  Michigan Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor, Michigan. 

The Badgers won two events and recorded numerous personal and season bests on the second day of the weekend's competition. 

Leaders on the track

Junior Leane Willemse made her season debut in the 3000 meters,  winning the event with a personal best time of 9 minutes, 11.98 seconds. The Mequon native now sits 10th on UW's all-time indoor list, and her time ranks second in the Big Ten. Willemse was joined by graduate students Vivian Hacker and Victoria Heiligenthal, both also running personal best times. Hacker finished sixth in 9:32.05, and Heiligenthal crossed eighth in 9:35.38. 

Senior Kiley Robbins captured a triumph in the 60-meter dash with a season-best time of 7.41 seconds, which ranks her 10th in the Big Ten this season in the event. The Milwaukee native was back competing in the 200 meters, picking up another season-best time as she finished fourth in 24.52. 

Mya Bunke and Kylie Finger competed alongside each other in the 800 meters, where both women ran personal best in the event. Bunke finished fifth, crossing in 2:11.49, while Finger came in ninth at 2:14.01. 

In the day's final event, the 4x400 group of Mya Bunke, Victoria Heiligentahl, Kiley Finger, and Ruby Madden finished eighth with a time of  4:07.51. 

Field standouts 

Julia Moore competed in the pole vault Saturday afternoon, she finished fourth after clearing 12 feet, 7 ½ inches (3.85m). Freshman Elissa Perkins made her Badger debut in the triple jump, finishing second at 38-9 ½ (11.82m).

Danni Langseth was back competing in the shot put, the redshirt sophomore went on to finish fourth in the event with a distance of 49-1 ½ (14.97m). 

Up Next 

Select athletes will travel to two different meets next weekend, Kiley Robbins will compete in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Saturday, Feb. 3, while Madison Mooney will head to Boston for the Bruce Lahene Scarlet and White Invite on the same day.
