MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin redshirt freshman wide receiver Trech Kekahuna was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. Kekahuna had a career day in Wisconsin's rout of Purdue and scored his first career touchdown. Kekahuna finished with 6 catches for 134 yards and 2 scores.
Kekahuna is the first Badger WR to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Week since the awards inception in 2010. He's the first Badger wideout to receive a Big Ten offensive weekly award since David Gilreath in 2008 (Offensive Player of the Week).
Kekahuna’s 134 yards were the most for a Badger WR in a Big Ten game since Chimere Dike totaled 185 in a victory versus Northwestern on Oct. 8, 2022. Kekahuna was the only Big Ten player to tally 100+ receiving yards and a touchdown during Week 6 action. He totaled 91 yards after catch, the most for any Power 4 WR this week.
Wisconsin travels to Piscataway, N.J. to take on Rutgers on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. The Badgers will be back at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 26 to take on No. 4 Penn State.
