MADISON, Wis.– The Wisconsin women's track and field team continued a busy weekend of competition on Friday with a group out west at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Beach Invitational, and Cerritos Invitational while a group of distance runners stayed in Wisconsin to compete at the UW-Platteville Invitational.
The trio of Shaina Zinter, Leane Willemse and Maya Rayle all earned spots on the Badgers' top-10 list at the Bryan Clay Invitational to highlight action on Friday.
Badgers out west
Shaina Zinter, Kyla Saleh, and Maddie Hogan were back competing on the second day of the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Zinter and Saleh were in Group A, while Hogan was in Group E.
Zinter finished sixth overall with a personal best score of 5,499 points, moving her to eighth on UW's All-Time performance list. Her score currently ranks No.11 in Division I and first in the Big Ten this season. Saleh finished her first career heptathlon 12th overall with 4,662 points.
Zinter led the group starting the day off with a 10th-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 18 feet, 5 inches (5.61m), Saleh followed with a 14th-place finish with a mark of 17-0 ½ (5.19m). The two later competed in the javelin throw, with Zinter finishing sixth and Saleh 14th, with throws of 114-8 (34.95m) and 83-4 (25.41m), respectively. Zinter capped off the competition with a win in the 800 meters, crossing in 2:11.99, and Saleh crossed in 2:28.77 for 12th place.
Hogan put together two top-five placements, including second-place finishes in the javelin throw with a distance of 113-0 (34.46m) and a fifth-place finish in the 800 meters at 2:29.21. She also grabbed a ninth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 15-7 (4.75m). Hogan finished sixth overall with 4,385 points.
Victoria Heiligenthal was back on track, competing in the 800 meters, running a personal best time of 2:09.27 for a 10th-place finish.
Rounding out the day at the Bryan Clay Invitational were three women competing in the 5000 meters, which saw two UW top-10 marks. Leane Willemse got things started in the second heat of the invite with a ninth-place finish, crossing with a personal best time of 15:49.80, which places the Mequon native seventh on UW's All-Time list. Graduate student Maya Rayle followed in the third heat with a second-place finish with a personal best time of 15:52.50, joining UW's top-10 list at No. 9. Shea Ruhly was back competing for the first time in over a year, finishing in 20th 16:29.74.
At the Beach Invitational, Olivia Roberts was back competing for the third consecutive day in the hammer throw; she finished sixth overall with a distance of 203-4 (61.99m). She was joined by teammate Danni Langseth, who finished with a mark of 168-0 (51.21m).
A group of sprinters competed at the Cerritos Invitational in Norwalk, California. A pair of Badgers won the 100-meter dash, as Kiley Robbins and Rachel Robinson crossed 11.37 seconds (wind-aided). Sydney Robinson also grabbed a top-10 finish, coming in at 12.20 seconds for 10th.
Karina Janik also placed in the top five in the 400-meter hurdles. The freshman finished second with a personal best time of 1:02.15.
Distance Badgers
A loaded field of distance runners competed at the UW-Platteville Invitational Friday night, which featured six Badgers. The UW women went 2-3 in the top section of the event as Alexa Westley finished second in 16:25.69 and Isabella Jacobsen finished third thanks to a personal best time of 16:25.75. Erinn Hill also competed in the top section, finishing 20th at 17:19.60.

The Badgers are back Saturday for another busy day of competition. Throwers, sprinters, and select middle-distance athletes will continue competition in California at the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Beach Invitational; events will begin at 10:30 a.m. CT.
A group of athletes will return to Platteville for the second day of the UW-Platteville Invitational. They will compete in the 1500-meter and 3000-meter steeplechase at 12:20 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. CT, respectively.
