Wisconsin dominates Big Ten Preview

Christian de Vaal wins in Badger debut to lead UW to team crown

SAVOY, Ill. – Christian de Vaal, Johnny Livingstone and Rowen Ellenberg went 1-2-3 as the No. 13 Wisconsin men's cross country team took home the team title at the Big Ten Preview on Friday at the Orange and Blue Golf Course. 

A redshirt freshman from New Zealand, de Vaal picked up a win in his collegiate cross country debut, finishing with a time of 23 minutes, 26.6 seconds.

Livingstone crossed the line in 23:43.30 a week after he earned a top-five finish at the Badger Classic while Ellenberg, the Badger Classic champion, was third in 23:44.70

Redshirt sophomore Micah Wilson was the fourth Badger - 6th runner overall - to cross the line at 23:50.00.

Freshman Nick Gilles was 12th in 24:00:40, while redshirt freshman Matan Ivri came 13th overall, finishing in 24:01.70.

Wisconsin won the team title with 24 points while Indiana was second with 55. Illinois was third with 82 points while No. 12 Butler was fourth with 91 points. 

 Up Next:
The Badgers will host the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational presented by Under Armour, on Friday, Sept. 27. Fifteen of the top-30 teams in the country will be in action in the prestigious competition at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course. Action begins at 11 a.m.
