MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin women's golf team finished in seventh, shooting +27 at the Route 66 Invitational Tuesday. The four Badger scorers were all top-40 in the field to close the fall campaign.
Redshirt junior
Tammy Wu led the Badgers, coming in 11th at +2. She used a first-round 69 to edge the top-10, while making the third-most birdies of anyone in the field (11). Wu closes the fall season on a tear, pacing the Badgers at the least three events, and securing the second-lowest 54-hole in school history two weekends ago.
Sophomore
Izzi Stricker had a strong outing, notching her first-career top-20 finish. She rose 25 spots after Round 2 on Monday, ultimately going +5 overall to finish 19th.
Senior
Alexia Siehl entered the clubhouse in 34th, sitting +10. She tallied the third-most pars of any golfer this week, earning 40.
Junior
Kate Brody had a strong bounce back day, rising nine spots to finish 39th overall. She used a 72 on Monday to come in at +11 and earn her second top-40 showing of the season.
Sophomore
Lauren Sammon rounded out the UW lineup in 61st after scoring for the Badgers in Round 1. True freshman
Grace Slocum competed individually this week, finishing 53rd in her third-ever collegiate event.
The Badgers now set their sights on an action-packed spring season, starting in early February. Bucky will spend some quality time down in Arizona, traveling to the Tucson Country Club to start the campaign before hosting the Westbrook Invitational down in Peoria. They'll follow that up with two tournaments in March, and two in April, before taking on the postseason and Big Ten Championships on Apr. 24.
FROM THE COURSE -- Head Coach Todd Oehrlein: Todd UW WGolf HC: "It was great to see Tammy have another strong tournament this fall. Izzi played solid and it was great to see her finish the fall with a strong outing. It was great to see Kate bounce back with a solid final round as well. Overall, this was a solid tournament, and we I'm proud of how we played yesterday during the 36-hole day, but know that we had the opportunity to get more out of our round today."
