MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin men's and women's swim and dive teams will head down to South Bend, Indiana, to take on Michigan and Notre Dame in a tri-meet Friday afternoon.
Before the Badgers take their mark, here are five things to know:
1.LAST TIME OUT:
In their fall season opener, the Badgers took care of Green Bay at home. A handful of Badgers found success with first-place finishes in both of their events, including Maggie Wanezek, Abby Wanezek, Hailey Tierney, Yoav Romano and Luukas Vainio.
2. DIVE RIGHT IN:
Against Green Bay, Julia Herring finished first in the 1-meter with 282.45 points and Ryane Neal led the way in the 3-meter with 269.25 points. On the men's side, Jan Lanser held consistent on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards, finishing with 303.52 and 361.43 points, respectively.
3. IN THE TOP 25:
The women's team checked in at No. 15 in the first CSCAA poll of the season, with the men following shortly behind at No. 22. Both teams are the fifth-highest ranked Big Ten team in their respective polls.
4. SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS:
On the men's side, the Wolverines sit at No. 10 in the first poll as the second-highest team in the Big Ten. The No. 25 Fighting Irish round out the rankings at No. 25. In the 2025 Big Ten Championships, Michigan got the edge over Wisconsin with a second place finish, scoring 1148 to Wisconsin's 735.
On the women's side, Michigan sits five spots ahead of Wisconsin in the first poll of the season at No. 10. The Wolverines finished just one spot ahead of the Badgers in the 2025 Big Ten Championships, scoring 1149.5 points. The Badgers notched their fourth-consecutive fourth place finish, with 849 points. In its first away meet of the 2024 fall season, the Badgers came out on top against Notre Dame, 223-118, but fell to the Wolverines 115-238.
