MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Badgers women's and men's swimming and diving teams will commence their 2025-26 season with a dual meet against UW-Green Bay at 4 p.m. at Soderholm Family Aquatic Center on Friday.
Before the Badgers take their mark, here are five things to know:
LAST SEASON
The Badgers captured multiple All-American honors at the NCAA Championships to cap off their 2024-25 campaign. On the women's side, Wisconsin placed 12th with 126 points as the fourth-highest Big Ten team in the nation. On the men's side, Wisconsin placed 22nd as the fifth-highest team in their conference. In her freshman season, Maggie Wanezek received an Honorable Mention All-American, alongside the relay team of Abby Wanezek, Hailey Tierney, Abby Carlson and Blair Stoneburg.
In the Big Ten tournament, the women's swim and dive team finished fourth with 849 points. The men's side finished sixth with 735 points.
NEW COACHES
The Badgers welcomed five new faces to the coaching staff this summer. Head Coach Jack Brown joins the Badgers with 13 years of collegiate coaching experience. He completed his coaching staff with the additions of assistant coaches Ted Patton, Johno Fergusson, Beata Nelson and diving coach Andrew Capobianco.
NEW BADGERS ON THE BLOCK
Wisconsin welcomes 14 freshmen and four transfer student-athletes to the team this season. On the men's side, Carter Jewell and Declan Kelly specialize in free. Enzo Solitario and Miles Cratsenberg will compete in the free and fly events. Drew Gaerthofner joins the squad, specializing in breast and free, while Adam Graham specializes in back and IM.
On the women's side, Wisconsin welcomes nine freshmen. Justine Delmas joins the squad specializing in IM, breast and free, alongside her twin sister, Lucie Delmas, who specializes in fly and IM. Brooke Corrigan will be competing in breast, IM and free. Freestyle specialist Sarah Freeman also joins the Badgers. Sophia Bruggeman will be specializing in fly and back, while Andrea Dworak will be specializing in free and back. Breast and freestyler Arianna Zelen also joins the Badgers. Rounding out the freshman class is Sarah Larsen, specializing in free and IM, alongside IM and backstroker Lily Van Heel.
DIVING
Under diving coach Capobianco, the Badgers welcome three new divers to the team this season in junior transfers Julia Herring, Lucas Daniels and freshman Zara Karimi. Herring, recently named to the 2025-26 Big Ten Watch List, joins the Badgers after a successful freshman season at the University of Alabama. Returning to the diving squad this season are Jan Lanser, Vivian Kinnard and Ryane Neale. Ahead of the start of the season, Lanser was named to the 2025-26 Big Ten Watch List.
