Badgers put up strong showing in day three of midseason invites

Wisconsin grabs four NCAA qualifying times
AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 20 Wisconsin men's swim team closed out day three of competition at the Texas Invite and the divers wrapped up day two at Ohio State, collecting four UW top-10 performances and four NCAA qualifying times.
Nathan Welker set the momentum early for the Badgers, touching the wall in 45.79 for a fourth place finish in the 100 back. The time marks a personal best for the junior and a second-best all-time performance at UW. Landon Kyser finished shortly behind in sixth with a time of 46.52 – an eighth-best all-time performance.
In the 200 breast, freshman Drew Gaerthofner put together a strong performance in 1:56.84 to break into the UW top-10 list.
Wisconsin closed out the night with a seventh-best all-time performance in the 400 medley relay, as Welker, Ben Wiegand, Charlie Jones and Luukas Vainio clocked in at 3:07.05.
At Ohio State, senior diver Jan Lanser broke into the A Finals, notching 304.05 points for a 12th place finish on 3-meter board.

The Badgers will take on the last day of competition at the Texas and Ohio State Invites. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. in Texas, with finals at 6 p.m. In Columbus, prelims begin at 9:30 a.m. and finals kick off at 5:30 p.m.
