Badgers head to West Point and Hempstead for back-to-back duals
MADISON, Wisc. - Wisconsin wrestling continues its early season stretch on the road this weekend, taking on Army West Point on Saturday before closing the trip at Hofstra on Sunday. The Badgers look to keep their strong start alive after a last second win against Bucknell pushed their record to 3-0.Â
1. The Last Time OutÂ
Wisconsin toughed out a 19-15 victory over Bucknell on November 25, securing the dual in the heavyweight match to stay undefeated. The Badgers opened the night with key performances, including a tech fall from Joseph Zargo and a major decision from Zan Fugitt. Luke Mechler added an important win at 157, and Braxton Amos closed the door with a major at 285 to lock in the team's first 3-0 start since the 2021-22 season.
2. Scouting the Army Black Knights
Army is coming off a strong showing at the Black Knight Invitational, finishing third with multiple finalists across the middle and upper weights. Braden Basile and Ethan Berginc helped set the tone with standout performances, giving the Black Knights stability in key spots. With a balanced lineup and a reliable group of returners, Army has the depth to keep matchups tight through the middle weights. Wisconsin leads the all time series 3-2.
3. Scouting the Hofstra LionsÂ
Hofstra enters the weekend looking to bounce back from its recent dual at Penn, where the Pride earned wins at 184 and 197 pounds behind strong efforts from Matthew Waddell and Will Conlon.
