Starting Five: Badgers head east for first Big Ten road trip

Wisconsin continues conference play against No. 7 Maryland and Rutgers
MADISON, Wis.- The Wisconsin women's basketball team will open Big Ten road play at No. 7 Maryland on Dec. 29 at 3 p.m. CT and at Rutgers on Jan. 1 at 1 p.m. CT. Both games will stream on B1G+.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers head east:
1. BADGER SPOTLIGHT: Junior guard Kyrah Daniels has been a force this season, leading Wisconsin with 12.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game through 12 contests. She poured in a season-high 21 points against Bowling Green, knocking down five three-pointers.Graduate guard Destiny Howell has emerged as one of the Badgers' go-to scorers, averaging 12.6 points per game while shooting 49.1% from the field and 42.6% from three through 11 games. She set a new season high with 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting against Green Bay.
2. TERRAPIN SCOUTING REPORT:Â Maryland enters the game ranked No. 7 in the country, bolstering a 13-0 record (1-0 B1G) under 24th-season head coach Brenda Frese.
The Terrapins average 88.7 points per game and shoot 49.0% from the field. They have a strong presence on the boards, outrebounding their opponents 44.5–28.5.
Wisconsin and Maryland have met 14 times, with Maryland winning all 14 games. In College Park, the home team leads 7-0.
3. SCARLET KNIGHT SCOUTING REPORT:Â Rutgers is 8-4 (0-1 B1G) under fifth-year head coach Coquese Washington.
The Scarlet Knights average 60.5 points per game and shoot 36.5% from the field. They average 40.1 rebounds per game, including 15.6 offensive boards, which is third-best in the Big Ten.
Wisconsin and Rutgers have met 19 times, with the Scarlet Knights holding a 12-7 advantage in the series. The Badgers are currently on a four-game win streak against Rutgers, their largest active streak against a Big Ten opponent.
4. LAST TIME OUT:Â The team is coming off an 81-72 win over IU Indy in its final home game of 2025, wrapping up nonconference play, and has improved its home record to 8-0 on the season - its best start at the Kohl Center since the 2006-07 campaign.
The Badgers shot 48.3% (29-60) from the field, 32.3% (10-31) from deep and 92.9% (13-14) at the line. Defensively, Wisconsin held the Jaguars to 47.8% (22-46) from the field, 31.3% (5-16) from three and 76.7% (23-30) at the line.
