Wisconsin matches up with Kansas and Arkansas over the weekend
MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women's tennis team heads to the heartland for their matchups against Kansas and Arkansas. They will play Kansas on Friday, Feb. 7th at 4 p.m., then play Arkansas Saturday, Feb. 8th, the time has yet to be determined. Both matches will be played at the Jayhawk Tennis Center.
SCOUTING THE JAYHAWKS: Kansas is coached by Todd Chapman, who is in his 11th season for the Jayhawks. He has turned Kansas into a very solid program that is always a threat to compete for the Big 12 Championship. Chapman has also led the Jayhawks to six NCAA Tournament appearances during his tenure at the helm. They have a relatively young squad this season, with four Freshman and only two Seniors. The Jayhawks come into this match undefeated, winning their first five games of the season, however the Badgers will be their toughest opponent up to this point.Â
SCOUTING THE RAZORBACKS: Tucker Clary is the head coach of the Razorbacks and is in only his second year in that position. He has been with the program as an assistant coach since 2020 where he served for two seasons gaining experience. He is still in the process of turning the program around as they went 12-12 last season in a tough SouthEastern Conference. This year they are off to a solid start at 3-1 and hoping to improve on their record from last season.
THE LAST SERVE: The Badgers swept a double-header in their matchup at home last weekend. They beat the Milwaukee Panthers 4-0 and beat the Northern Illinois Huskies 6-1. Ariel Johnson had a fantastic day overall as she finished 2-0 in her singles matchups and 1-0 in her doubles match with partner Maria Sholokhova.
UP NEXT: The Badgers head back to the East coast for a matchup with Boston College and Harvard from February 14-15.
