Box Score

MADISON, Wis. – The Big Ten Conference announced on March 18 that the team result of the March 14 men's tennis match between Michigan State and Wisconsin has been overturned. The action was taken after Michigan State played a lineup different than what was approved by the coaches' group during the midweek lineup review process, in violation of Big Ten Conference game management policies and procedures.

As a result, the No. 6 singles point is awarded to Wisconsin to result in a 4-3 match victory for the Badgers. Individual student-athletes' records and rankings will not be impacted.

The Big Ten Conference considers this matter concluded and will have no further comment.

Original recap from March 14 match:

The Wisconsin men's tennis team took on No. 36 Michigan State in Big Ten action on Friday night, falling in a tight match, 4-3. Wisconsin earned the doubles point, but couldn't hold off Michigan State's crop of nationally-ranked singles competitors.

To start the match, the Badgers had Nielsen humming with exciting play during doubles action. The No. 3 pair of Edouard Aubert and Matthew Fullerton cruised to a 6-4 win while matches were closely-contested at No. 1 and 2. Eventually, Tomas Zlatohlavek and Oliver Olsson won, 7-5, over Michigan State's nationally ranked doubles pair of Aristotelis Thanos and Ozan Baris (No. 53).

In singles play, Michigan State found their footing behind the efforts of their top two singles players, who are both ranked in the nation's Top-25. The Spartans tallied singles wins at No. 1, 2, 3 and 6.

Wisconsin freshman Edouard Aubert mustered a straight-set victory (6-2, 6-3) over Michigan State's Dani Rakhmatullayev. Aubert is now 7-2 this season at Wisconsin's No. 5 singles spot.

At No. 4, Matthew Fullerton won his first set in a tedious tiebreaker over Michigan State's Matthew Forbes, who holds a No. 63 national ranking. Fullerton claimed the second set 6-3 to win the match.

Up Next: The Badgers host Michigan on Sunday. First serve is set for noon at Nielsen Tennis Stadium and admission is free for fans.
