Box Score
OJAI, Calif. – The Wisconsin women's tennis team was eliminated from the Big Ten Tournament after a 4-1 loss to the UCLA Bruins.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Badgers dropped the doubles point despite close matches across all three courts. Maria Sholokhova and Ariel Johnson secured a win in their match, but Wisconsin's other two pairs fell just short. Taylor Cataldi and Ellison Reynoldson narrowly lost 4-6 to UCLA's Kate Fakih and Olivia Center. Meanwhile, Kaja Jacobson and Ekaterina Ivanova pushed their match to an extra game but were ultimately edged out, giving UCLA the opening point.
In singles play, Wisconsin showed resilience, keeping the match tighter than the final score indicated. Both Sholokhova and Johnson were leading their matches before they were called off. The lone point for the Badgers came from freshman Tianna Rangan, who continued her strong form with a 6-2, 7-5 victory. However, Cataldi, Ivanova, and Reynoldson were defeated in their respective matches, sealing the win for the Bruins.
