REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The Badgers raced in the Bay Area for the Stanford/Cal Invite on Saturday, April 5.
The 17th-ranked Wisconsin men's crew fell short in the morning races against No. 2 California, finishing second in the varsity eight with a time of 5:47.0, just over 13 seconds behind the Bears. The second varsity eight boat also pulled in a second-place spot, ending with a time of 6:01.3. The third varsity eight took on Washington, finishing second to the Huskies in 5:58.8.
Despite a strong effort during the afternoon races, the Badgers fell short to No. 11 Stanford in the varsity eight by just , crossing the finish line in 5:43.3 to Stanford's 5:38.2. The second varsity eight boat improved its time by nearly 10 seconds, finishing its race in 5:50.4 and just under six seconds back of the Cardinal. Wisconsin's third varsity eight boat finished second again, this time to California, with a time of 5:59.4.
Up next: The Badgers return to the water with a meet against No. 22 Oregon State.
