MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin women's soccer junior
Hailey Baumann has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Baumann recorded an assist in Wisconsin's 4-0 shutout win over Central Michigan on Thursday before scoring the game-winning goal in Sunday's 2-1 victory at Marquette. She started both matches, playing all 90 minutes against the Golden Eagles, and anchored a Badger defense that allowed just one goal over the weekend.
This is Baumann's first Big Ten weekly honor of her career, following her selection to the Big Ten Players to Watch list earlier this month.
Wisconsin will look to remain undefeated on Thursday, Aug. 28, at LSU, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
