Sholokhova secures a ranked upset as Badgers roll past Razorbacks
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Wisconsin women's tennis opened its weekend on a strong note, defeating Arkansas 4-1 on Friday afternoon. Wisconsin improves to 5-2 overall, setting the tone for the weekend in Fayetteville
Ekaterina Ivanova and Ellison Reynoldson set the tone in doubles, flying past Alonso/Schaefer 6-1 in under 30 minutes. Tianna Rangan and Kaede Usui followed quickly with a 6-2 victory to clinch the doubles point and give Wisconsin the early advantage.
Moving into singles, Maria Sholokhova delivered a strong performance, earning an upset win over No. 22 Caroli Gomez Alonso, 6-1, 6-2. Ivanova continued the momentum at No. 2 singles, adding another point with a 6-3, 6-3 straight-set victory. After battling through a tight second set, Reynoldson dominated the third, closing it out 6-2 to seal the match-clinching point and secure the win for Wisconsin.
