
Starting Five: Badgers welcome Hawkeyes for Senior Day showdown

Badgers will honor five seniors pregame
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's basketball team returns home for one last regular season game. They will host the No. 9 Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday, March. 1 with tip set for 2:00 p.m. (CT). The game will stream on B1G+.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers face the Hawkeyes:
1. THREE BALL THREAT:Wisconsin has taken a major step forward from beyond the arc in 2025-26, averaging 8.5 three-pointers per game (1st B1G, 27th nationally) on 34.7% shooting. The Badgers have also significantly increased their three-point attempts, rising from 17.8 per game in 2024–25 (243rd nationally) to about 24.6 attempts per game in 2025–26 (27th nationally), a jump of nearly 6.8 attempts per game.
2. SCOUTING THE HAWKEYES:
Under the leadership of head coach Jan Jensen, Iowa has posted a 23-5 overall record and a 14-3 mark in B1G play. The Hawkeyes are coming off a 82-78 win against Illinois and as a team they average 78.9 points per game and pull down 38.7 rebounds per game.Â
Sophomore Ava Heiden leads the Hawkeye attack, averaging 17.6 points per game and already totaling 494 points this season. On the boards senior Hannah Stuelke leads the team with 236 rebounds averaging 8.7 per game.Â
3. SERIES HISTORY:
Wisconsin and Iowa have met 81 times before Sunday with the first meeting coming in 1974. The Badgers are looking to pick up their first win against the Hawkeyes since the 2006-07 season.
4. LAST TIME OUT:
Wisconsin fell 80–60 to UCLA. Dorja Zaja led the Badgers with 16 points on an efficient 7-for-12 shooting night, while Lily Krahn added 13 points by knocking down three triples. Ronnie Porter and Gift Uchenna each contributed eight points, with Uchenna pulling down a team-high five rebounds.
Wisconsin finished shooting 39.7% from the field (23-58), 34.6% from three (9-26) and 83.3% (5-8) from the line. UCLA ended shooting 41.8% from the field (28-67), 33.3% from deep (10-30) and 73.7% (4-19) from the line.
5. UP NEXT:
Wisconsin will await its fate in the Big Ten Tournament, set to take place March 4–8 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
