Wisconsin collects eight first place finishes
MADISON, Wis. — The No. 24 Wisconsin men's swim team closed out the first day of competition at the Badger Invitational on Friday, taking first place in every event.
How it happened:
The Wisconsin A relay team of Nathan Welker, Ben Wiegand, Charlie Jones and Luukas Vainio started the finals session strong with an all-time top-10 performance in the 200 medley relay, touching the wall in 1:24.99.
Nathan Welker broke his personal best in the 100 fly, touching the wall in 46.25 for a seventh-best all-time performance at UW. Freshman Enzo Solitario and Lance Swanepoel rounded out the top three in the event, finishing in 46.99 and 47.48, respectively.
Six other Badgers collected first-place finishes in their events. Dominik Mark Torok and Yoav Romano tied for first in the 200 free at 1:34.37. Freshman Miles Cratsenberg led the way in the 500 free, finishing in 4:22.56.
Up Next:
Wisconsin returns for day two of the Badger Invitational on Feb. 7. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m., and finals will take place at 5 p.m.
