
Wisconsin sweeps the weekend with win over Purdue

Badgers move to 10-3 overall on the season
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Wisconsin women's tennis dominated in its match against the Purdue Boilermakers, securing a 4-0 victory. The Badgers completed a weekend sweep of Indiana's Big Ten teams to open conference play.
Kaja Jacobson and Tianna Rangan once again proved to be a strong duo at No. 3 doubles, jumping out to an early 4-0 lead. The pair were first to finish, earning a 6-3 win to give Wisconsin early momentum in doubles play. At No. 1 doubles, Ellison Reynoldson and Ekaterina Ivanova continued the push, securing the doubles point for the Badgers with a 6-2 victory.
After being named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, Kaede Usui carried that momentum into singles play, racing past her Boilermaker opponent with a dominant 6-0 first set. Usui pushed through the second set to secure another conference win. Maria Sholokhova followed with a strong performance of her own, earning the first singles point for Wisconsin with a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Sholokhova continues to show consistency in her matches and moves to 7-3 on the regular season.
Tianna Rangan clinched the match for the Badgers with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 win over Purdue's Gownder. With the victory, Wisconsin extends its all-time series lead over Purdue to 49-30.
