1. The Last Time OutÂ
Wisconsin put together a strong weekend in Indiana, securing wins over both Indiana and Purdue. Against the Hoosiers, the Badgers dropped the doubles point but responded with a dominant showing in singles, winning four matches to clinch the team victory. Maria Sholokhova led the charge with a decisive 6-2, 6-0 win, while Kaede Usui also earned a straight-set victory. Ekaterina Ivanova and Ellison Reynoldson each battled through three sets to secure key points for Wisconsin. In West Lafayette, the Badgers came out strong in doubles to take the early lead. Sholokhova once again set the tone, earning a 6-3, 6-1 win as the first Badger off the court. The rest of the lineup followed with straight-set victories, finishing within minutes of each other to complete the sweep and move Wisconsin to 10-3 overall.
2. Scouting the TerrapinsÂ
Maryland enters the weekend after a strong home performance, highlighted by a win over Rutgers. The No. 23 doubles pair of Ema Kovacevic and Emma Ghirardato played a key role, earning a 6-0 victory to help secure the doubles point. In singles, Maryland picked up quick wins at No. 3 and No. 6 singles before #89 Oliwia Orlinska clinched the match. The Terrapins hold a 10-2 record on the season.
3. Scouting the Scarlet KnightsÂ
Rutgers sits at 7-6 overall and is coming off a loss to Maryland. The Scarlet Knights put together a strong effort in doubles, pushing to a tiebreak, but ultimately came up short. Their lone point came at No. 4 singles from Stella Schmitz, who holds a 7-9 record this season. Rutgers enters the weekend looking to secure a ranked win.
4. Matchup by the NumbersÂ
Wisconsin holds the advantage in both match ups, leading the all-time series 8-2 against Maryland and 8-1 against Rutgers. The Badgers swept both teams last season at Nielsen Tennis Stadium and aim to carry that momentum into the weekend.
