Transfer guard and top in-state recruit heads home to Wisconsin after two years at Iowa
MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin women's basketball has added transfer guard Teagan Mallegni to its roster.
A 6-foot-1 guard from McFarland, Wisconsin, Mallegni returns home after beginning her career at Iowa and will join the Badgers as a junior. She saw action in 15 games in 2025-26, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors and dishing a career-high four assists against the Badgers.
As a freshman at Iowa, she scored 14 points in her collegiate debut - the most by a true freshman in their debut since Caitlin Clark - and went on to appear in 30 games, totaling 97 points and 64 rebounds.
A former No. 64 overall prospect by ESPN and the No. 2 player in Wisconsin, Mallegni was a two-time First Team All-State selection and Rock Valley Player of the Year at McFarland High School, where she set multiple program records. She led McFarland to its first state tournament appearance since 1999 and finished her prep career with 2,470 points, including a 62-point performance. As a senior, she averaged 27.3 points, 10.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.1 steals per game. Mallegni also competed for Wisconsin Lakers AAU, helping the team win the Select 40 National Championship in 2022.
"Teagan has a tremendous foundation and experience competing at a high level. We're thrilled to welcome her back to her home state and our basketball family"said head coach Robin Pingeton.
