Badgers take down Gophers in dominant fashion
MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin women's tennis delivered a strong performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating Minnesota in a Border Battle matchup. The win marks the Badgers' fourth consecutive sweep over the Gophers.
In a new pairing this season, Ellison Reynoldson and Kaja Jacobson had an impressive showing, earning a strong bagel win to get Wisconsin on the board. Maria Sholokhova and Ekaterina Ivanova battled through a tight match, breaking late to take a 4-3 lead. The duo closed out the match with a powerful final game, securing the doubles point for the Badgers.
Wisconsin carried that momentum into singles play. Kaja Jacobson put together a strong showing at No. 6 singles, marking one of her best wins of the season. Tianna Rangan followed with a convincing win at No. 3, cruising through her match. At No. 1, Maria Sholokhova controlled the first set, 6-1, before battling through a back-and-forth second set. Sholokhova secured a late break to take the set and clinch the match for Wisconsin.
