MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin softball team is set to take on its first midweek game of the season, welcoming Loyola Chicago to Goodman Diamond on Wednesday, April 8.Â
First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. CT, as the game will be streamed on B1G+. Fans can also follow along with live stats posted to uwbadgers.com.Â
Wednesday's matchup will be the first between the Badgers (21-12, 7-5 B1G) and the Ramblers (17-18, 9-3 A10) since the 2012 season, as UW leads the all-time series at 23-2-1. Head coach Yvette Healy will face her former school for the first time in over a decade, as she finished with a record of 131-172-1 at Loyola Chicago from 2004-10. The Ramblers currently sit in first place in the Atlantic 10, recently sweeping Saint Joseph's on the road.Â
The Badgers are fresh off of their third consecutive Big Ten series win, this time taking two out of three against Purdue in West Lafayette. UW has gone 7-2 over its past nine games to tie for fifth in the Big Ten halfway through conference play.Â
Senior Shelby Jacobson tossed 14 innings against the Boilermakers, tallying her ninth victory of the season in Friday's game. The right-hander earned her first seven-inning complete game shutout since the 2024 season. In her 14 innings of work, Jacobson struck out 15 batters and only allowed two walks.Â
Redshirt freshman Jaclyn Showalter was the hero in Saturday's dramatic comeback victory, as the right-handed slugger launched a grand slam to give the Badgers their first lead of the game in the seventh inning. Freshman Berritt Herr notched her ninth win of the year in the process—shutting down the Boilermakers in the bottom half of the frame to win the series. Â
The Badgers put together their second-largest comeback in a single game on Saturday, storming back to win 10-9 after being down 6-0 through two innings of play. UW last came back from six or more runs in 2012, when they erased an eight-run deficit against Minnesota to win 11-10 on April 11.Â
Juniors Alivia Bark and Hilary Blomberg each hit a home run versus Purdue. Bark earned her first of the season, while Blomberg advanced to second all-time in program history with her 31st career big fly—tying Chloe Miller (2014-17). Blomberg enters this week with 12 homers on the year, matching her total from last season.Â
Up Next: The Badgers will resume conference play this weekend, as they are set to host No. 5 Nebraska at Goodman Diamond for a three-game series. Game one on Friday is slated to start at 7:00 p.m. CT, as fans can view the battle on Big Ten Network.Â
