2019-20: Served as the Badgers’ captain … despite a playoff schedule that ended early before the Badgers’ 2020 NCAA quarterfinal game against Clarkson, Steffen played in all 36 games this season helping UW to a WCHA regular season title … recorded six goals and 23 assists for a 29-point season …
helped UW set a program record of 35.2 power-play goals thanks to three of her own ... named to the all-tournament team in WCHA title game (March 8) … scored in UW’s 5-0 shutout over St. Cloud State (Feb. 1) for a three-point weekend … named WCHA Defenseman of the Week Jan. 7 after posting a three-point weekend at the Battle at the Burgh and earned all-tournament honors (Jan. 4-5) … posted another power-play game-winning goal in UW’s 5-3 win over St. Cloud State (Nov. 22) … earned WCHA Defenseman of the Month (Sept./Oct.) … tallied one goal in UW’s 4-1 win over Bemidji State (Oct. 26) … had a six-point weekend in UW’s weekend sweep of Ohio State, scoring one power-play goal in the 3-0 win Oct. 11 and five points thanks to two goals, one power-play game-winner, in the 7-3 win Oct. 12 which earned Steffen WCHA Defenseman of the Week (Oct. 15) … had the most blocks on the team with 49 and had a +25 rating
2018-19: A member of the 2019 National Championship team, Steffen was named an All-WCHA First-Team defenseman after scoring a career-high 25 points off seven goals and 18 assists. Her seven goals lead all WCHA defensemen during the 2018-18 season. Steffen set a career high with two goals in UW’s 5-0 win over SCSU on Jan. 25. The junior finished the season with an impressive +29 rating while on the ice. Steffen was a part of an elite UW defensive unit that allowed zero goals in the NCAA postseason, a playoff schedule that included outings against No. 4 Clarkson and No. 2 Minnesota.
2017-18: Played in 38 games... recorded three goals and 13 assists for 16 points on the season... registered a +26 plus/minus rating... led the Badgers in blocks with 58... enjoyed a four-game point streak from Feb. 3-16 (4A)... tallied the game-tying goal to force overtime against Colgate in the NCAA semifinals on March 16
2016-17: Played in all 38 games while recording a WCHA rookie-best +29 plus/minus rating... her 23 blocks were the second-most by a Badger this year... tallied four goals and ten assists for 14 overall points... tallied the game-winning goal in the Badgers' 12-round shootout against No. 2 Minnesota Duluth on Feb. 11, 2017 ... scored a goal and netted two assists in the NCAA quarterfinal victory against Robert Morris on March 11
Prep: Played for Hill-Murray High School, helping the team to win back-to-back state championships in 2014 and 2015… named to the North Suburban All-Conference Team in 2013 and 2014, and named to the Metro East All-Conference Team in 2015 and 2016… finalist for the 2016 Ms. Minnesota Hockey award... won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2015 IIHF Under-18 World Championships… also participated in figure skating, dance, soccer, golf and lacrosse.
