Biography

2017-18 (Senior): Rowed primarily six seat with the varsity eight... rowed stroke with the second varsity four at the Princeton Chase... helped the varsity eight to a fourth-place finish at the Princeton Chase... raced six seat in the race against Syracuse, finishing with a time of six minutes, eight seconds... helped the varsity eight to a first-place finish over Oregon State and Stanford at the Stanford Invitational... sat five seat in the varsity eight that placed sixth in the petite finals of the 2018 IRA National Championships 

2016-17 (Junior): Rowed with varsity eight that placed 11th at the 2017 IRA National Championships ... raced in the four seat with the varsity eight that earned a win and a pair of second-place finishes at the Stanford Invite … rowed the varsity eight to second at the Cochrane/Jablonic Cup … placed third in the petite final at Eastern Sprints in May with the varsity eight … helped the varsity eight to ninth place at Head of the Charles in the fall … selected to the men's four for the 2017 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, where he helped the United States to a ninth-place finish.

2015-16 (Sophomore): Raced in three seat with the second varsity eight at the IRA National Championships, placing fifth... consistently raced with the varsity eight, sitting in three seat for varsity eight that placed sixth in the petite final at the Eastern Sprints... won the Cochrane Cup from three seat, while placing second for the Jablonic Cup, the Congram Cup and at the Stanford Invite... rowed to a third place finish at the Devil's Lake Dual... competed with the varsity eight at the Princeton Chase in the fall, placing tenth from four seat.

2014-15 (Freshman):  Sat two seat in the freshmen eight that finished second at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships and defeated Stanford and Oregon State at the Stanford Invitational as well as finished first at the Head of Huron over Illinois, Michigan and Michigan State

Personal: Parents are Mark and Molly Griffin … has one brother, Colin … has two sisters, Erin and Kate … Kate is a freshman on the Wisconsin women’s lightweight rowing team … major is communication arts.

High School: Graduated from St. Mary Catholic … four-year letterwinner in basketball … four-year letterwinner in football … two-year letterwinner in track and field.

Reason for choosing UW-Madison: "UW-Madison has the best combination of academic prestige and college feel over every other college I visited."

What Wisconsin rowing means to you: "Wisconsin rowing to me is a tradition of hard work. Anyone can be a part of a team, and succeed, so long as they have the drive to win."
