2020-21 (Senior): Rowed six seat with the third varsity eight and took first place at Marietta College (April 3)

2019 - 2020 (Junior): Rowed four seat with varsity eight C and took thirteenth place at Princeton Chase (Oct. 27) 

2018-19 (Sophomore): Rowed three seat with varsity eight and took first-place at the Bald Eagle Invitational, also rowed three seat with second varsity four and took fourth...rowed four seat with third varsity eight and took 18th at Princeton Chase

2017-18 (Freshman): Sat stroke in the novice eight 'B' boat that placed second at the North Star Regatta... also helped the freshman four to a second-place finish at the North Star Regatta, sitting three seat... sat stroke with the novice eight 'B' boat at the Bald Eagle Invite, placing first with a time of 14 minutes, 56 seconds... sat six seat in the fifth varsity eight at against Minnesota on April 28... sat four seat with the novice eight against Minnesota

High School: Played basketball for one year ... rowed for four years

Personal: Parents are Susan Marcou and David Marcou ... father is a education researcher and mother is a TV news anchor ... grandfather played college basketball in Philadelphia ... major is biology ... named Academic All-Big 10 for Fall 2020

Reason for choosing UW-Madison: I was born and raised in Madison and have been a Badger fan for as long as I can remember. UW-Madison has been my dream school from a young age. The school has amazing academic and athletic reputations and some of the best school spirit in the world.

What Wisconsin Rowing means to Matthew: To me, Wisconsin Rowing embodies grit, determination, hard work, unity, and precision. All of these are required when rowing, and they can make or break any race. The team has taught me the value all of this and more, and given me knowledge I will carry with me forever.
